Ramping up the simmering battles over contentious cultural issues in America, the states, led by Texas and most with Republican governors, accused the federal government of rewriting laws by "administrative fiat."

The inspector general of the U.S. State Department released a report Wednesday that sharply criticized current presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State. The report says that Clinton would not have received approval to handle her emails the way she did, even if she had sought prior approval.

Elsmere, Kentucky, Police Chief Timothy Thames said Wednesday that 18-year-old Brandon Lee Fitzpatrick of Louisa, Kentucky, was charged by West Virginia authorities with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Fitzpatrick was being held in the Kenton County jail pending extradition proceedings.

USDA: NUMBER OF FARM WORKERS INCREASING May 26, 2016 Source: USDA news release There were 703,000 workers hired directly by farm operators on the Nation's farms and ranches during the week of April 10-16, 2016, up 2 percent from the April 2015 reference week. Workers hired directly by farm operators numbered 582,000 during the week of January 10-16, 2016, up 6 percent from the January 2015 reference week.
